God Gave You A Very Special Gift

God has given us many wonderful gift. Purity is is one of the wonderful gifts given to us by God. God loves us and commands us to be pure as He is pure. We are to guard this most important gift. But why? Why is purity so important to God? What does God have to say about purity anyway?

2 Corinthians 11:2
I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
  
2Corinthians 11:3 
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Philippians 2:14-16  

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Titus 2
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God

Throughout the bible God uses symbolism and analogies to describe something to us so we might understand what he is communicating with us. 

He uses us to be the living symbols of our relationship with Jesus Christ.  We have been called to represent Jesus Christ to the world around us. 

But what if I have not kept myself pure?
There is forgiveness. John chapter 8 tells us of a woman caught in an act of impurity. Those that caught her and accused her of wrong doing wanted to have her stoned but Jesus could see and knew everything the accusers had done that was impure too. Jesus did not condemn this woman but forgave her and told her to leave her life style of sin. 

If you have not lived in purity you also can leave that life style by repenting and asking Jesus Christ to forgive you. His mercies are new every morning.

The truth is we all need to ask God to purify our hearts on a daily basis for one reason or another. A day will come when we that are children of God will live in perfect purity forever. What a day that will be.
